How to Play Black Cat in Marvel Rivals: 5 Key Tips

  • Treat Fortune as your real win condition. Her entire kit revolves around fortune, so you need a plan to start earning enough of it the moment the game starts. You build it by landing attacks, using your grapple, and gambling, then spend it to power up abilities or buy extra items through Gilded Deal. If you're not actively generating and tracking it, you're playing half a character. The cap is 1,000, so don't sit on a full bank doing nothing either.
  • Don't blow your Fortune the second you get it. This is the most common rookie mistake. Wait for a real opportunity, especially when an enemy support or a wounded Duelist is caught out of cover. Dumping resources into a bad engage costs you the whole play.
  • Attack from angles, never through the front. She's at her best coming in from walls, high ground, or around corners instead of pushing through the enemy frontline. Her double jump from Thieving Grace lets her reach perches no other melee hero can get to, so find the high points before the fight even starts and don't play her flat-footed. The whole loop is get in, get a pick, get out.
  • Respect that she's a glass cannon and bail early. She's nimble but fragile, so you have to watch your HP. Once multiple enemies catch you, use her mobility to escape rather than trying to keep swinging, or you'll just feed. Living to harass again is worth more than forcing one extra hit.
  • Hold your cleanse and your ult for the right moment. Save Chernobog's Crystal to break out of the nastiest crowd control, like Mantis's sleep or Doctor Strange's ult, by planning ahead instead of reacting late. For Calling Card, hit it from a high vantage point outside the enemy's vision when three or four of them are grouped up, and prioritize Strategists first, then Duelists, and leave Vanguards for last.
